Metal Barb Cable Ties

Metal Barb Cable Ties are a specialized type of nylon cable tie that incorporates a stainless steel barb or tooth within the head of the tie. This innovative design provides a stronger and more reliable locking mechanism compared to traditional all-plastic pawls. The metal barb bites firmly into the nylon strap, offering enhanced tensile strength and increased resistance to slippage, particularly under vibration, shock, or significant temperature fluctuations. These ties are engineered for applications where a higher level of security and performance is required, bridging the gap between standard nylon ties and heavy-duty stainless steel banding.
Product Details

Features

  • Enhanced Locking Strength: The integrated metal barb provides a superior grip on the tie strap, resulting in higher tensile strength and a more secure lock.
  • Increased Reliability: Offers greater resistance to loosening caused by vibration, impact, or thermal cycling, ensuring a consistent and long-lasting hold.
  • Durable Construction: Combines the flexibility of a nylon body with the strength and durability of a stainless steel locking mechanism.
  • Precise Tensioning: Allows for fine adjustment and precise tensioning of the tie before the metal barb engages for final locking.
  • Vibration Resistance: The metal barb design helps maintain tightness even in high-vibration environments.
  • Versatile Applications: Ideal for demanding applications in automotive, aerospace, industrial machinery, electrical installations, and other areas requiring robust bundling and fastening.
  • Available in Variations: Like standard nylon ties, can be found in UV-resistant versions for outdoor use and heat-stabilized versions for elevated temperatures.

Technical Data

  • Materials:Tie Body: Nylon 6/6 (Standard); Locking Barb: Stainless Steel (commonly Grade 304 or 316)
  • Flammability Rating: UL 94 V-2 (Standard for Nylon body)
  • Operating Temperature Range: -40°C to +85°C (-40°F to +185°F) (Standard for Nylon body)
  • Chemical Resistance: Good resistance of the nylon body to oils, greases, hydrocarbons, alkaline chemicals, and solvents. The stainless steel barb offers excellent corrosion resistance.
  • Tensile Strength: Generally higher than comparable sizes of all-plastic nylon ties due to the metal barb. Varies significantly based on the width and thickness of the tie.
  • UV Resistance: Natural nylon is susceptible to UV degradation. Black UV-stabilized nylon bodies are recommended for outdoor applications.
  • Locking Mechanism: Stainless steel barb provides a secure, often infinite, locking position along the strap.
